ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM
AGREEMENT
This “Artist In Residence” (AIR) Program represents a collaborative relationship between the Artist, and the Eastern Connecticut Center for History, Art, and Performance, Inc. (EC-CHAP). The intent of this Program is to provide thoughtful opportunities to achieve synergistic outcomes that will: 1) assist the AIR to grow and flourish as an artist in their field; and 2) support EC-CHAP in realizing its mission and advancing its long term vision.
The Artist In Residence must be at lease 21-years of age. The term of this Agreement is for one (1) year and represents a starting point in a journey together. It defines specific elements upon which both parties will build upon through frequent and ongoing communication.
At a minimum, the elements of this Agreement shall include the following:
EC-CHAP will:
Provide a full-time working studio space, in The Mill Works facility (No living space provided).
Provide opportunities for the Artist to exhibit their works in the Dye & Bleach House Community Gallery spaces or The Packing House performance venue.
Provide opportunities to network with individuals and organizations that comprise The Mill Works “Creative Community”.
Actively promote the Artist through EC-CHAP marketing channels.
Provide and promote solo Exhibits of the Visual Artist’s work (Dye & Bleach House Community Gallery); or solo performances of the Performing Artist’s work (The Packing House).
Provide the Artist with a complimentary EC-CHAP annual “Artist/Performer Membership”.
The Artist-In-Residence will:
Write a monthly article in their area of expertise to be published in a regional paper.
Attend one (1) Board meeting per month (first Wednesday of the month) and report on monthly activity and future proposed plans. If the AIR’s personal work schedule does not allow for Board meeting attendance, the AIR shall provide a written monthly report to the Executive Director at least three (3) days prior to the scheduled Board meeting.
Plan, create new original work, and at a minimum: A) VISUAL ARTISTS - Install 8-week solo show in the D&BH Community Gallery; B) PERFORMING ARTISTS - Provide one (1) dance or film screening; OR two (2) solo musical performances; OR four (4) Readings in The Packing House. Other original works may also be considered.
Participate in Artist Talks, Instructional Programs, demonstrations, and Open Houses as mutually agreed upon.
Comply with all EC-CHAP occupancy requirements.
