Funding for the initiative is provided by the CT General Assembly, with the support of Connecticut Humanities and the Department of Economic and Community Development, Office of the Arts, which also receives support from the federal ARPA.

 

EC-CHAP has prepared a presentation, “The Rise and Fall of the Hall Thread Company”, which will be followed by a tour of the Gardiner Hall Jr History Museum. This historical presentation will cover the Company’s beginning in 1860; its evolution and impact on the Town of Willington; and what caused the thread company to cease operations in 1954.

This program, developed by Museum Curator, Ryan Elgin, will include photographs, original products and artifacts, interesting facts, and anecdotal stories. Following the presentation, Ryan will provide a tour of the Gardiner Hall Jr History Museum, and will answer questions from the attendees.

The first 15-Registrations will receive a complimentary copy of the book, “Lost Mills in Willington Connecticut”, (2014) by historian Richard Symonds for the Willington Historical Society.
